How it works

A simple, cautious matching process

  1. 1

    Add your test

Share your booked centre, date and the range you could accept.

  2. 2

    We check possible matches

Listings are reviewed privately for learners who want the opposite exchange.

  3. 3

    You decide what happens next

If it suits you both, each learner completes the official process with DVSA.

You stay in control. A possible match is never a guarantee.

Quick answer

Can you swap driving test dates with someone?

Yes, learner-to-learner driving test swaps may be possible if both learners already have a practical test booked, meet the timing and test-type rules, and each wants the other booking. DVSA may allow the same centre, one of the three nearest centres, or a centre originally booked where the rule works for both learners. Any official swap must be completed directly by the learners through DVSA by phone.

Exchange Driving Tests helps learners find possible driving test swap matches privately. We do not access DVSA, do not book or change tests, do not ask for DVSA login details and do not sell test slots.

Driving test swap explained

What is a driving test date exchange?

A driving test date exchange is when two learners already have practical driving tests booked and both prefer the other learner's date. For example, one learner may have a later test and want an earlier driving test, while another learner may have a test too soon and want more time to prepare.

This safer driving test date exchange process is designed to help identify possible matches only. Exchange Driving Tests does not access DVSA systems, does not book tests, does not change tests and does not complete swaps for learners.

Read the full driving test swap guide or check the official GOV.UK guidance on swapping your driving test.

Need a later test?

Got a driving test too soon?

Most learners search for an earlier date, but the exchange only works when some learners also want later dates. If your practical test is coming up and you are not ready, your earlier test date may be useful to someone else.

Choose “Later” or “Either” on the form and select the date range you would realistically accept. We will check possible learner-to-learner matches and contact both people separately before any details are shared.

A privacy-first driving test swap pilot.

Exchange Driving Tests is still new, so we do not fake active-swap numbers or success claims. Listings are reviewed manually, and the aim is to help learners find possible driving test date exchange matches without exposing phone numbers in public groups.

No public listings

Your test details are not published as an advert and your email is not shown publicly.

Verified activity only

The activity strip uses a neutral pilot message until an approved, privacy-safe activity record is available.

Honest status

We will only publish outcome proof after both the record and the wording have been checked, with no booking or contact details exposed.

New resource

Test centre pages now include route-preparation guidance.

Use the test centre directory to find your centre page. Each page includes original preparation advice and a clearly labelled external link to third-party practice route information, without copying anyone else’s route content.

List only centres you could attend and that may be allowed for your booking. Check the location rules.

This helps us understand where learners are finding the free exchange list.

Want to improve your Match Priority?

Optional. You will still receive essential emails about your listing and possible matches if you leave this unticked. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Questions

Safety and privacy FAQs

Is this official DVSA?

No. Exchange Driving Tests is not affiliated with DVSA. It is a free learner-to-learner matching list.

Why not just use a WhatsApp group?

WhatsApp groups can expose phone numbers to other members. This site is designed so listings are not public and details are not shared unless both learners agree.

Can you guarantee a swap?

No. A match depends on another learner having a compatible test date and both learners agreeing to proceed.
