Driving test swap rules
Plain-English guide to driving test swap rules, including the 10 full working day timing requirement, learner control and what Exchange Driving Tests does not do.
The timing rule
DVSA guidance says a driving test swap must be requested at least 10 full working days before the earliest test date involved in the swap. Monday to Saturday count as working days, while Sundays and public holidays do not.
The website form blocks preferred date ranges that are too soon and the backend also validates dates before saving listings.
Learners stay in control
Exchange Driving Tests does not act for learners. It does not access DVSA accounts, does not complete a swap and does not take payment for a test slot.
If there may be a match, both learners are contacted separately first. Any official process remains the learner's responsibility through DVSA.
Why this matters
The driving test market attracts scams because earlier dates are valuable to learners. A safe exchange process should avoid public phone-number exposure, avoid payment pressure and avoid asking for sensitive DVSA details.
Read the official guidance on GOV.UK before agreeing to any swap.
Questions
What counts as a working day?
For DVSA swap timing, Monday to Saturday count as working days. Sundays and public holidays do not count.
Can the site complete the swap for me?
No. It only helps find possible matches. Learners complete anything official themselves through DVSA.
Do you charge for swaps?
No. The current pilot is free and does not allow buying or selling test slots.
Ready to check for a possible match?
Submit your current practical test details for free. Your listing is manually reviewed, your email is not shown publicly, and no learner details are shared unless both people agree first.
